Which currency will I be charged in?
How GuavaHost picks your currency, how to switch between USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, BRL and PLN, and why an existing account always bills in its own currency.

GuavaHost shows and charges prices in six currencies: US dollars, euros, British pounds, Australian dollars, Brazilian reais and Polish złoty. The site picks one based on your country, you can switch it any time before you order, and checkout always charges the exact currency and amount it shows you. Once you have an account, your invoices and renewals stay in that account's currency.
How the site picks your currency
On your first visit, the currency is set from the country you are browsing from:

Your language does not change your currency. Reading the site in German or Portuguese does not switch you to euros or reais, and an English speaker in Australia sees Australian dollars.
Switching currency
- Click the globe button in the top bar of guavahost.com. It shows your current language and currency, for example EN · USD. On a phone, it is inside the menu.
- Under Currency, pick the one you want. Languages are listed separately above it, so changing one never changes the other.
Every price on the site and in checkout updates straight away, and your choice is remembered on that browser for next time. Pick your currency before you start checkout, because it is locked in when your order is created.
What checkout charges
Checkout prices your server in the currency you selected and shows that currency throughout the order summary. The invoice is created in the same currency, and you are charged exactly that amount. There is no conversion at the moment you pay.
If a plan is not available in the currency you picked, checkout falls back to US dollars. You will see dollar amounts in the summary, and that is what you are charged.
Prices in the other currencies are based on our US dollar prices converted at the exchange rate in our billing system, so everyone pays the same real price whichever currency they choose. Because they are set prices rather than live conversions, the number you see is the number you pay.
New accounts take the checkout currency
When you create your account during checkout, it is set up in the currency of that order. From then on, everything on the account uses it: your renewal invoices, plan upgrades and the amounts shown in your client area.

Existing accounts bill in their own currency
If you already have a GuavaHost account, new orders are invoiced in your account's currency, whatever the site was showing while you browsed. So if your account is in euros and you had US dollars selected, the total changes once you sign in at checkout.
Checkout never charges a different amount silently. On the card form you will see "Your invoice total has been updated. Check the amount on the payment button before paying." With a wallet, it tells you the corrected total, confirms nothing was charged, and asks you to press your wallet button again. You approve the real amount before anything is taken. To avoid the surprise, switch the site to your account's currency before you order.
Changing your account's currency
Once an account has payments in one currency, it generally cannot be switched to another. If you have a good reason to need a different currency, for example you have moved country, ask support and we will look at what is possible.
Bank and card fees
GuavaHost charges in the invoice currency. If your card or PayPal balance is in a different currency, your bank or PayPal may convert the amount and charge its own conversion fee. Choosing the currency your card is in, when it is one of our six, avoids that.
