Common Questions

Do I need a Hytale account to run a Hytale server?
Yes. Every Hytale server has to be authenticated with a Hytale account before players can join. On the first start the console shows a short code that you approve in your browser with an account that owns the game, and the server remembers the login after that. Our first-start guide walks you through it.
How much RAM does a Hytale server need?
Hypixel's minimum for the official server is 4GB, and our plans start at 8GB, which suits a small group. View distance is the biggest factor in memory use, and Hypixel recommends capping it at 12 chunks (384 blocks). Busy public servers and big mod lists need more, and you can change your RAM at any time.
Can I install Hytale mods and plugins?
Yes. Mods, meaning .jar plugins and .zip asset packs, go in your server's mods folder. You can find them on sites such as CurseForge. Upload them with the file manager or SFTP, then restart the server.
Why can't players join after a Hytale update?
Hytale only lets players join a server running the exact same version. Your server installs new Hytale builds when it starts, so after a patch, restart it and make sure your players have updated their game too.
