Refer to earn is the GuavaHost affiliate program (you may also hear it called the referral or partner program). You pick your own code, choose how a 40% pool is split between your audience's discount and your commission, and share it. Anyone ordering with your code saves on their first payment (once per customer), and when a new customer orders their first server with your code or link, you earn. You also earn bonuses as the profit from your referrals grows. It is free to join, there is no approval step, and you don't need a server.
The full rules and numbers are on the Refer to earn page, and the affiliate terms are at the bottom of it.
Joining
- Sign in at guavahost.com/account, or create a free account there. Any GuavaHost account can join.
- Open Refer to earn in the menu.
- Under Pick your code, type the code you want, or tap the suggestion to use it. Codes are 4 to 16 letters or numbers and start with a letter. The field tells you straight away if a code isn't available or isn't allowed.
- Under Choose your split, move the slider (more on that below).
- Tick I agree to the affiliate terms and click Start earning.
Your code and link are ready to share straight away.
Your code and link
- Your code is what people type at checkout, under Have a promo code? (see Using a promo code). It is the one to say out loud on a stream or in a video.
- Your link is guavahost.com/r/ followed by your code. It remembers the visitor for 60 days, so they can order later and it still counts for you. The discount comes from the code, so ask people to enter it at checkout too.
If someone follows more than one member's link, the last one they click in the 60 days before ordering gets the order. A code typed at checkout always wins.
Both have a Copy button inside the field. To change your code, click Edit in the code field. You can change it once every 30 days (your first change can be made at any time), and your old code keeps working for 60 days so the links you've already shared don't break.
A code can't be, or be made to look like, an offensive word, GuavaHost or a staff title, another creator's or brand's name, or a discount claim like FREE or 50OFF. Some names are reserved.
Choosing your split
You have 40% to share between your audience's discount and your commission, with at least 10% on each side. New members start at 20% each.
- Slide left to earn more and give a smaller discount (up to 30% of their first payment for you, 10% off for them).
- Slide right to give a bigger discount and earn less (up to 30% off their first payment for them, 10% for you).
The page shows a worked example as you move it. At 20/20, on a $10.00 first payment they pay $8.00 and you earn $1.60 when they're a new customer. Click Save split to keep it. A new split applies to new orders only.
If you believe your community deserves more than 40%, contact support and it can be arranged if we see fit.
What counts
- New customers, first order. You earn when someone new orders their first server with your code or link.
- First payment only. Your audience's discount and your commission both apply to the first payment of that order, on a monthly or quarterly plan. Your commission is worked out on what they pay, after the discount and before tax.
- Renewals and upgrades don't pay commission, but they do count toward your profit goals. Later orders don't count.
- Anyone can use your code once. Existing customers get your discount on the first payment of their order too, once per customer, but their orders don't earn commission and don't count toward your profit goals. Only a new customer's first order earns.
- Add-ons aren't discounted.
- During a site-wide sale, checkout applies the sale's code, and your audience can swap in yours if it gives them more. If they keep the sale's code after following your link, you earn 40% minus the sale's discount, up to your own commission.
- No self-referrals. You can't earn on your own orders or use your own code, including through a second account.
Pending and available
New commission shows as Pending for 30 days after the customer pays, so refunds and chargebacks can clear. After that it moves to Available. If an order is refunded or charged back, its commission is removed, and if it was already paid out, it comes off your future earnings.
The Earnings section of the page shows:
- Available: what you can request as a payout now.
- Pending: commission still in its 30 days, with the date the next part becomes available.
- Paid out: what you've already been paid.
- Lifetime: everything you've earned so far.
Profit goals
Each time the profit from your referrals reaches a goal, you get a one-time bonus of 10% of that goal, added straight to your available balance:
| Reach this profit | You get |
|---|---|
| $50 | $5 |
| $100 | $10 |
| $250 | $25 |
| $500 | $50 |
| $1,000 | $100 |
| $2,500 | $250 |
| $5,000 | $500 |
| $10,000 | $1,000 |
Profit from your referrals is what the new customers you referred have paid for the servers in their first order through you, renewals and upgrades included, minus your commission. A payment counts once it is 30 days old. The Profit goals section shows your next goal and its bonus, how much is left to reach it, and every goal with what it pays.
Getting paid
- Once your available balance reaches $10.00, click Request payout.
- Choose Account credit or PayPal. For PayPal, enter the PayPal email address to pay.
- Confirm with the code we email you (or your authenticator app, if you use one).
We pay requests by hand within 5 business days. You can have one request open at a time, and you can cancel it while it is waiting.
- Account credit goes onto your GuavaHost account and pays your own invoices. When it is used, it shows as Credit applied on the invoice. It can't be cashed out.
- PayPal payouts are sent in US dollars. PayPal may charge you to receive or convert the money. You need to be 18 or over, or use a parent's PayPal with their permission.
Sharing it the right way
The terms spell out the rules. The short version:
- Describe GuavaHost honestly and don't promise things we haven't.
- Say you may earn a commission wherever the platform or law requires it.
- No coupon, deal or cashback sites, and no paid search ads on the GuavaHost name.
- No spam, and no misleading claims about prices or discounts.
Breaking the rules can mean removed commission, a paused or renamed code, or leaving the program. You can leave at any time from the Refer to earn page, and what you've earned stays on your membership.
Tips that actually help
- Share both. Your code gives your audience the discount, and your link still credits you when someone orders later without it.
- Tell people which game you host with us, so they know which plan to pick on the games page.
- Mention the 48-hour money-back guarantee. It makes trying a server an easy yes.
