How to Cancel a Server

You can cancel a GuavaHost server yourself from your control panel at customer.guavahost.com, and you get to choose whether it stops right away or at the end of the period you have already paid for.

Before you cancel

Cancelling frees up the server and deletes its files when it shuts down, so take a moment first:

• Open Backups in the server menu, click Create backup, then Download anything you want to keep.
• Remember the 48-hour money-back guarantee. If you ordered within the last two days and want your money back, ask support for a refund rather than a plain cancellation.
• If cost is the issue, consider a smaller plan instead. Change plan in the same Manage your plan window shows the sizes you can move to.
• Running more than one server? Cancelling one does not touch the others; each service is cancelled on its own.

How to cancel

There is no need to email us or wait around; the whole thing takes under a minute.

1. Sign in at customer.guavahost.com.
2. Open My servers and click Manage on the server you want to cancel.
3. Click Manage plan in the server menu. (You can also click the service under Your services on the Overview page.)
4. In the Manage your plan window, click Cancel plan.
5. A Before you cancel screen appears first. If something is not working, Talk to support opens a live chat, and Keep my server closes it. To go ahead, click Continue to cancel.
6. Under When should it stop?, pick a timing (see below), and add a short answer to Why are you leaving? if you like; it is optional, but it helps us improve.
7. Click Schedule cancellation for your date, or for an immediate cancellation click Continue, type CANCEL and click Cancel my server.

A scheduled cancellation then shows on the server's pages, with the date it closes.

Right now or at the end of your paid period

You choose one of two timings:

• At the end of my paid period: your server keeps running until your next due date (the screen shows the exact date), then shuts down and does not renew. This is the safe default, since you lose nothing you have paid for.
• Right now: your server shuts down as soon as we process it, usually within minutes. There is no refund for the rest of the period and it cannot be undone, so only pick this once you have saved everything, because your files go with it.

Either way, billing stops, and the server's files are deleted when it shuts down.

Saving your files first

The surest way to keep your world or configs is to grab them before the server is gone:

1. Open Backups, click Create backup, and when it shows Ready, click Download.
2. For individual files, use the Files tab, or connect over SFTP with a free client like FileZilla using the Connection details on the Settings tab (SFTP is a secure way to move files between your computer and your server; Uploading files with SFTP walks through it).
3. Download your world folder, plugins, and any configs you care about.

Changed your mind

Cancellations are not always final. If you scheduled an end-of-period cancellation, open Manage plan again and click Keep this server, which puts you in touch with support to take the cancellation off before that date. And if you cancelled a server you ordered less than 48 hours ago, you may still qualify for a full refund under the money-back guarantee, so reach out and ask.

Cancelled servers disappear from My servers, but they stay listed under Services (click View all next to Your services on the Overview), along with their invoices under Billing & invoices.
