Migrations

Move a game server to GuavaHost from another host, have our team migrate it for you, switch to a different game or convert a Java world to Bedrock.

  • Update your domain and SRV record after moving

Moving a server gives it a new IP and a new port, so your custom domain stops working until you repoint it. This covers the A record and SRV record pair, TTL and propagation, and how to switch without a gap for your players.

  • What to back up before you move a server

A per game checklist of the files that matter when you move a server, the ones people forget, how to check an archive before you trust it, and how long to keep the old copy.

  • Move a Rust server to GuavaHost

What is worth bringing from an old Rust host (the save, blueprint data, plugin configs, server.cfg and users.cfg), what is cleaner to recreate, and why a wipe is the easiest moment to move.

  • Move a Minecraft server to GuavaHost

A step by step plan for bringing an existing Minecraft server across: match the version and server type, copy the world folders, move plugins and mods with their configs, then switch your players once it is proven.

  • Converting a Java world to Bedrock

You can convert a Minecraft Java world to Bedrock using third party tools like Chunker, but it is lossy: terrain and builds usually survive, while entities and container contents often do not, and modded content will not convert at all. Here is the honest process.

  • Migrating from another host

Moving an existing game server from another provider to GuavaHost means copying your files across. The Migration page can copy them straight from your old host, or you can do it by hand over SFTP. This guide walks you through both.

  • Have the GuavaHost Team Move Your Server for You

If you already have a game server somewhere else, the GuavaHost team can move it onto your new GuavaHost server for you, so you do not have to wrestle with file transfers yourself.

  • Switch Your Server to a Different Game or Start Fresh

Your GuavaHost server is not tied to one game forever. You can switch it to a different game or wipe it back to a clean slate, and this guide covers both safely.

About these guides

Moving a server is mostly about knowing which files actually matter. The world is the obvious one; the ones people forget are the permissions database, the plugin or mod configs, and the player data that lives beside the world rather than in it. These guides list them per game so nothing is left behind on a host you are about to stop paying for.

If you would rather not do it by hand, our team will move a server for you, which has its own guide. There are also guides for switching an existing server to a different game, and for converting a Minecraft Java world to Bedrock, which is a conversion rather than a copy and comes with real caveats.
