Your GuavaHost server is not tied to one game forever. You can switch it to a different game or wipe it back to a clean slate, and this guide covers both safely.
Always back up first
Both of these jobs replace files, so protect yourself before you start. Open the Backups tab and create a snapshot. If you ever want the old setup back, you can restore that snapshot, though restoring overwrites whatever is on the server at the time, so treat it as a safety net rather than a merge.
Wiping your current game to start fresh
If you want the same game but a completely clean server:
- The cleanest option is Reinstall on the Settings tab. This reinstalls the game files and gives you a fresh server. It wipes the current files, so it is the start-over-from-zero button.
- If you only want to clear the world and keep your configs, use the Files tab instead and delete just the world folder (for example the Minecraft world, worldnether, and worldtheend` folders). The game recreates a new world on the next start.
Rust servers
For Rust, you do not need to delete files by hand. GuavaHost includes an in-panel Rust Wiper that handles it for you. It runs scheduled and manual map wipes and blueprint wipes, can post a wipe announcement to your Discord, and rolls the world seed and map size automatically. Use that instead of manual deletion for a clean, correct Rust wipe.
Changing the game version or type
Staying on the same game but want a different version, jar, or server type? That lives on the Startup tab. It holds your server variables, such as the game version and the server type or jar. Change the value, then restart the server on the Console tab so it downloads and boots the new version. This is how you jump between, say, one Minecraft version and another, or swap a vanilla jar for a modded one.
Switching to a completely different game
Moving from one game to another, for example Minecraft to Rust, is a bigger change, because each game runs on its own server type behind the scenes. Some of this can be done from the Startup tab, but the reliable way is to let us switch it for you. Open a ticket at guavahost.com/account or ask in our Discord, tell us which game you want, and whether to wipe the old files or keep them. The team reconfigures the server to the new game and confirms when it is ready.
After the change
Once the switch or wipe is done, watch the Console tab as the server starts to confirm it boots cleanly, then connect using the IP and port shown at the top of the server view. If anything looks off, restore your backup and try again.
