If you already have a game server somewhere else, the GuavaHost team can move it onto your new GuavaHost server for you, so you do not have to wrestle with file transfers yourself.
What staff-assisted migration is
Migration just means copying your existing server (your world, your plugins or mods, and your configs) from your old host onto your new GuavaHost server. You can do this yourself over SFTP, but you do not have to. Our team offers staff-assisted migration, where we do the copying and setup for you and confirm everything is running before you connect.
Before you ask
A little prep makes the move quick and clean:
- Order your GuavaHost server first. Setup is instant, so it is live within seconds and ready to receive your files.
- Match the game and, where it matters, the version, so your files land on a compatible server. You can set the version on the Startup tab.
- Have access to your old server's files ready, usually the SFTP host, port, username, and password from your current host.
How to request it
- Open a support ticket from guavahost.com/account, or ask in our Discord at discord.gg/GuavaHost.
- Tell us the game and roughly what to move: the whole server, or just the world, plugins, and configs.
- Share how we can reach the old files (the old host's SFTP details), or ask us how to send them over safely.
- We copy everything across into your new server's storage and get it configured.
- We confirm it is done. You then open the Console tab to watch it start and connect using the IP and port at the top of your server view.
Response times on Discord are usually around 30 minutes, and support runs 24/7, so you are never waiting long to get moving.
Prefer to do it yourself
A self-service SFTP copy is completely doable (SFTP is a secure way to move files between your computer and your server):
- Open the Settings tab on your GuavaHost server for the SFTP host, port, and username.
- Connect with a free client like FileZilla using those details.
- Drag your world folder, plugins or mods, and config files from your computer into the matching folders on the server.
- Restart from the Console tab and check it boots cleanly.
What to move and what to leave
Bring the things that make your server yours: the world or save, plugins and mods, and their config files. Leave behind the game's core files and jars, since GuavaHost installs fresh, correct versions of those for you. Copying old core files over new ones is the usual cause of a server that will not start.
