How to schedule automatic Rust wipes with the GuavaHost Rust Wiper

The GuavaHost Rust Wiper lets you schedule automatic map and blueprint wipes, roll a fresh seed and map size, and announce the wipe to your Discord, all from the Wipes page of your server in the control panel.
What the Rust Wiper does
The Rust Wiper is a built-in GuavaHost tool that handles the two kinds of Rust wipe for you:
- A map wipe generates a brand new world and clears everything built or placed in it. Bases, deployables and loot are gone, but players keep their learned blueprints.
- A blueprint wipe (also called a BP wipe or force wipe) additionally resets every player's learned blueprints, so the whole server starts researching from scratch.
Instead of deleting save files by hand, you set a schedule once and the Wiper runs it, optionally rolling a new seed and map size and posting an announcement to Discord.
Setting up a scheduled wipe
- Sign in at customer.guavahost.com, open My servers and click Manage on your Rust server.
- In the server menu, under Rust tools, open Wipes. It opens on the Schedule section.
- Under Wipe schedule, pick how often: Every week, Every fortnight, Force wipes only or Custom. Custom lets you switch Scheduled map wipe and Monthly force wipe on or off separately and choose Every week or Every 2 weeks.
- Set the Map wipe day and Map wipe time, and the Force wipe time for Rust's monthly force wipe. Check the Timezone is right; the times follow it, daylight saving included.
- Under Blueprints, choose Only on force wipes or On every wipe.
- Open Map settings to choose how the seed and world size change each wipe (see below).
- Open Discord announcements if you want players told automatically. Set up Rust Discord wipe announcements covers it.
- Click Save changes in the bar at the bottom of the page. The Wiper now runs on its own.
The Wipe calendar under the schedule shows every upcoming map and force wipe, so you can check the dates before you save.
You can also wipe by hand whenever you need to. Under Need a fresh start now? click Manual wipe, then Wipe map or Wipe map + blueprints, and type WIPE to confirm. The wipe starts within a minute.
Choosing map vs blueprint wipe
- Map wipe only is the usual weekly choice. It keeps progression feeling fresh without punishing players who spent time researching.
- Map plus blueprint wipe is the classic monthly force wipe that lines up with Facepunch's own forced client update on the first Thursday of each month.
A common rhythm is a map wipe every week and a blueprint wipe once a month, but pick whatever fits your community.
Rolling the seed and map size
The seed is the number Rust uses to generate the map layout: same seed, same map. Under Map settings, the Seed choice is Random each wipe, Choose a fixed seed or Rotate a list of seeds you give it. Map size (world size) controls how large the world is, and you can pick Keep current size, Choose a size or Random each wipe between a smallest and largest size. Rolling it adds variety, but remember that a bigger map uses noticeably more RAM, so keep an eye on your memory if you let it climb. The Current map card shows today's seed and size, with a link to see the map on RustMaps.
After a seed or size change, Rust regenerates the world on the next boot, which can take a few minutes on larger maps. That is normal.
After a wipe
Take a backup on the Backups page before your first live wipe so you have a safety net. It is also worth updating your server name or description with the new wipe date so returning players can see the schedule at a glance. With the Discord announcement enabled, your community gets pinged automatically the moment the fresh map goes live.
