Set up Rust Discord wipe announcements and live player counts

You can have your GuavaHost Rust Wiper post an automatic wipe announcement to your Discord, and add a simple status bot to show a live player count, so your community always knows when to jump back in.

You can have your GuavaHost Rust Wiper post an automatic wipe announcement to your Discord, and add a simple status bot to show a live player count, so your community always knows when to jump back in.

Create a Discord webhook

A webhook is a URL that lets an outside tool post messages into one of your Discord channels.

  • In Discord, open Server Settings, then Integrations, then Webhooks.
  • Click New Webhook and choose the channel it should post to, for example #wipes.
  • Give it a name, then click Copy Webhook URL.

Keep that URL private, since anyone with it can post to your channel.

Connect the webhook to the Rust Wiper

  • Open your server in the panel and launch the Rust Wiper tool.
  • Paste the webhook URL into the Discord announcement field.
  • Turn on the Discord announcement option.
  • Customise the message if you like, then save.

From now on, every scheduled or manual wipe posts to your channel automatically, including a rolled seed or map size if you have those turned on.

What to include in the announcement

A good wipe post tells returning players everything they need in one glance:

  • The wipe type, map only or map plus blueprints
  • The date and time, and how often you wipe
  • The connect address, for example client.connect <ip>:<port> using the address from the top of your panel
  • The new map size or seed if you roll them
  • A reminder link back to your Discord

Add a live player count

The wipe announcement covers the when, and a status bot covers how busy it is right now. A few common options:

  • A Discord server-status bot that you point at your connect IP and game port (28015). Many rename a voice channel or post an embed with the live population.
  • A BattleMetrics page for your server, which gives a public live count and player history you can link in Discord.
  • The Rust+ companion app for personal alerts on your phone.

Whichever you choose, you feed it the same IP and port shown at the top of your server view.

Test it before you rely on it

Trigger a manual wipe from the Rust Wiper to confirm the announcement lands in the right channel and reads the way you want. If the server is live, take a snapshot on the Backups tab first so you have a safety net. Once you have seen one land correctly, your scheduled wipes will post the same way every cycle without any effort from you.
