An Enshrouded server wants a good chunk of RAM to run smoothly, and how much you need comes down to your player count and how much your group has built.
The short answer
- 1 to 3 players, a fresh or small world: 6 GB is a workable minimum.
- 4 to 8 players with a few bases: 8 GB gives you comfortable headroom.
- A busy world heading toward the 16-player cap with large, detailed builds: plan for 12 to 16 GB.
Enshrouded is heavier on memory than many survival games, so if you are choosing between two amounts, size up. RAM is the resource that most often decides whether your server feels smooth or stutters.
Why Enshrouded needs so much
Enshrouded streams one large, seamless world with fully editable voxel terrain (terrain made of tiny blocks you can dig and reshape). Every base you build, every tunnel you carve, and every chest you fill adds detail the server has to hold in memory. More players exploring different corners of the map at once means the server keeps more of that world loaded, and memory use climbs.
What pushes your usage up
- More players online at the same time, especially spread across the map.
- Large, complex bases with lots of blocks, furniture, and crafting stations.
- Heavy terraforming, since carved-out terrain is not free to store.
- A world that has been played for many hours and grown over time.
A brand new server with two friends will sit far below its ceiling. The same server six months later, packed with mega-bases, is a different story.
How to check what you are using
Your GuavaHost panel shows live resource use for the server. Keep an eye on the memory reading while a normal number of players are online. If it regularly climbs close to your limit and the Console tab shows lag or slow saves, that is your sign to add more.
Upgrading is quick and painless
You never have to guess forever. Every GuavaHost plan is fully configurable, so you can start sensible and grow later. To add RAM, head to guavahost.com/account, open your service, and choose more memory. Billing is prorated (you only pay the difference for the time left in your cycle), and your world and settings stay exactly as they are. There is no wipe and no reinstall.
Other things that keep it smooth
- Every server already runs on NVMe SSD storage and AMD Ryzen or Intel hardware, so saves and world loading are fast out of the box.
- Pick a server location close to most of your players so ping stays low. You choose it at checkout and can change it later.
- Set a nightly restart on the Schedules tab. A fresh restart clears out memory that has built up and keeps things responsive.
Give your server the memory it needs and Enshrouded runs the way it should, whether you are two friends or a full team of sixteen.
