Sub-users let you hand a trusted friend or co-admin their own login to your server without ever sharing your GuavaHost password or billing details.
A sub-user is a separate person you invite by email. They get their own panel login, they only see the one server you invited them to, and you decide exactly which parts of the panel they can touch. Crucially, they never see your invoices, your other services or your account settings, because those live in your client area at guavahost.com/account, not in the game panel.
Adding a sub-user
- Open your server in the control panel and go to the Settings tab, where you also find rename, reinstall and your SFTP details.
- Find the sub-users controls and choose to invite a new user.
- Enter your friend's email address.
- Tick the permissions you want to grant (more on those below).
- Save. They receive an email invitation and set their own password, so you never handle it.
To remove someone later, come back to the same place and delete them. Their access ends immediately.
Choosing the right permissions
Permissions are grouped by panel area, so you can be as generous or as cautious as you like. Common ones include:
- Console: view the log, and optionally start, stop and send commands.
- Files: browse, edit and upload files.
- Backups: create and restore snapshots.
- Startup: change server variables like version and game type.
- Databases: view or manage MySQL databases.
- Schedules: create and edit automated tasks.
- Settings: rename the server and view SFTP details.
Suggested permission sets
- A co-admin you fully trust: grant most areas, including Console, Files and Backups, but consider holding back Settings so nobody triggers a reinstall by accident.
- A moderator who only runs the server: grant Console with the power and command permissions, and nothing else. They can start, stop and moderate without ever seeing your files.
- Someone helping with a build or plugin: grant Files and maybe Backups, so they can edit configs without touching the power controls.
A good habit is to start narrow and add permissions later if they turn out to need more. It is easier than clawing back access after something breaks.
A safety net before you delegate
Before you let anyone else near your files, take a snapshot on the Backups tab. If a helper edits the wrong config, a restore puts everything back. Remember that restoring overwrites current files, so save a fresh backup at the point you are happy with.
Sub-users are the clean way to run a server with friends. Everyone gets exactly the access they need, nobody shares a password, and your billing stays private to you.
