A quick orientation to the main tabs in your GuavaHost panel, so you know where everything lives before you start.
The panel is where you run and manage your server. It is built on Pterodactyl, the open source game server management software that a lot of hosts use, so if you have seen a panel like this before it will feel familiar. When you open your server you land on a set of tabs along the top or side. Here is what each one does.
Server IP and port
First, one thing worth pointing out before the tabs: your server IP and port sit right at the top of the server view. That is the address you and your players use to connect, so keep it handy.
Console
The Console tab is the live log of your server. You can watch it start up, see players join and leave, and spot errors as they happen. There is also an input box at the bottom where you type server commands and press Enter to run them, just like typing into the server on a machine you owned yourself.
Files
The Files tab is a file browser for your server. You can move through folders, open text and config files to edit them right in the browser, and upload files from your computer. It is great for quick edits. For big files, or a lot of files at once, connecting over SFTP is more reliable, and we cover that in a separate guide. (SFTP is a secure way to move files straight between your computer and your server.)
Startup
The Startup tab holds your server variables. These are the settings the server reads when it boots, and they usually cover things like the game version and the server type or jar. (A jar is the program file the game server runs from.) Change a variable here, restart the server, and it comes back up with the new setting.
Backups
The Backups tab lets you take a snapshot of your server as it is right now, and restore an earlier snapshot later. A snapshot is a saved copy you can roll back to, which is handy before a big update or a risky change. Restoring overwrites your current files, so treat it with a bit of care. Settings
The Settings tab is the odds and ends bucket. From here you can rename your server, reinstall it, and find your SFTP connection details (host, port and username) for transferring files. Reinstalling wipes the server back to a fresh state, so only use it when you mean to.
That is the whole tour. Poke around, nothing here bites, and you can always take a backup first if you want a safety net.
