Panel tour: Overview, Console, Files, Backups and Settings
A quick orientation to the pages of a server in the GuavaHost control panel, so you know where everything lives before you start.

Sign in at customer.guavahost.com, open My servers and click Manage on your server. Four tabs run across the top of the server page (Overview, Console, Files and Settings), and the server menu down the side lists every other page. The top of every server page
Your server's name, its status (for example Online, Offline or Starting), its address and the power buttons sit at the top of every server page, whichever tab you are on. The address is what you and your players use to connect; the copy button next to it puts it on your clipboard. The power buttons are Start, Restart, Stop and, for a frozen server, Force stop.
Overview
The Overview is the server's home page. It shows the live console, a Usage card with CPU, RAM and storage (click View history for a chart), the server's Location with a Change location button, your Scheduled tasks, and a Ports & network card listing the Server address and any other ports, each with a copy button.
Console
The Console tab is the live log of your server. You can watch it start up, see players join and leave, and spot errors as they happen. The box at the bottom takes server commands: type one and press Enter or Send. The toolbar above the log can search the output, copy or download it, pop it out into its own window or expand it.
Files
The Files tab is a file browser for your server. You can browse through folders, open text and config files to edit them in the browser, upload files from your computer (Upload files, or drag them onto the list), fetch a file straight from a link with Download from a link, and Unpack archives such as a .zip. It is great for quick edits. To move files or folders into another folder, choose Move in a row's ••• menu, or tick several and press Move in the bar that appears, then pick the folder and press Move here. A move never overwrites anything with the same name in that folder, and a folder cannot be moved into itself. For big files, or lots of files at once, connecting over SFTP is more reliable; see Uploading files with SFTP. (SFTP is a secure way to move files straight between your computer and your server.)
Settings
The Settings tab holds:
- Server name: what the server is called in your account and on invoices. Players still see the name set in the game.
- Connection details: the server address, and your SFTP details under File access (SFTP).
- Startup settings: the options the game reads every time it starts, such as the game version, the server type or the world name. Change one, click Save next to it, then restart the server for it to take effect. Settings GuavaHost looks after for you are listed under Set by GuavaHost.
- Reinstall server: a fresh install of the server software. Depending on the game it can delete your files, so only use it when you mean to. See Reinstalling your server.
Backups
Backups is in the server menu. It saves a copy of every file on your server as it is right now, so you can restore it later. That is handy before a big update or a risky change. Restoring overwrites your current files, so treat it with a bit of care. Backups: creating, restoring and scheduling has the detail.
The rest of the server menu
- Scheduled tasks: automatic restarts, backups and console commands on a timer.
- Databases: MySQL databases for plugins that need one (when your plan includes them).
- Manage plan: change your plan or billing cycle, add extras, or cancel.
- Under More: Migration (copy files in from another host), People (let a friend help run the server) and Activity (a log of who did what, and when).
- Tools for your game, when there are any, such as Wipes for Rust or Version and Plugins for Minecraft.
