Backups and Game Updates on a 7 Days to Die Server
Your server updates itself at every start. Your settings survive it because they live in a file Steam does not own. Your world needs a backup before a major version.

Blood Moon Lag and What Actually Fixes It
Horde night is a CPU problem, not a memory one. Turn down zombies alive at once, view distance and the blood moon count. Adding RAM will not help.

How to Connect to Your 7 Days to Die Server
Your address is the IP and port on the server page. In the game, open Join a Game, switch to Connect to IP, and type it in. Favourites keep it for next time.

Letting Console Players Join Your 7 Days to Die Server
Crossplay works, but only while the server meets every one of its conditions: anti-cheat on, no mods, eight slots or fewer, and a world no bigger than 8192.

Installing Mods on a 7 Days to Die Server
There is no mod store for this game. A mod is a folder you upload into Mods and a restart. XML mods reach your players on their own; code mods need anti-cheat off.

How Much RAM Does a 7 Days to Die Server Need?
Start at 8 GB. The Fun Pimps publish no server formula, but they ask 8 GB of the game itself, and a world that has been played on climbs past 4 GB on its own.

7 Days to Die Server Settings and the Sandbox Code
Your settings live in guavahost.xml, editable on the Server settings page. Difficulty, loot and blood moons are not in it any more: they come from a Sandbox code you make in the game.

Choosing a World, a Seed and a Map Size
Navezgane is the hand built map. RWG generates one from your seed, at 6144, 8192 or 10240. Changing any of the three starts a new world, so decide before your group builds.

About these guides
A 7 Days to Die server has two things that catch people out, and both are here first. One is ports: the game quietly uses three more than the address you hand out, so a server can look perfectly healthy and still let nobody in. The other is where the settings live, because since the V3.0 update the difficulty, loot and blood moon dials moved out of the server file and into a code you generate in the game itself.
Start with connecting, then the server settings guide, which covers both of those and the file your settings are kept in. After that it is the ordinary business of running a server: how much RAM to buy, how big to make the world, installing mods by hand because this game has no mod store, and the console commands behind the Players tab.
