A connection timeout means the game could not complete its connection to the Palworld server.
Follow the checks below before opening a support ticket.
Step 1: Confirm the Server Is Running
Open your server in the GuavaHost control panel (sign in at customer.guavahost.com, open My servers and click Manage) and check the status at the top of the page and the Console tab.
Make sure:
- The server is online
- It has finished starting
- It is not repeatedly restarting
- There are no major errors in the console
Large or recently uploaded worlds may take longer to load.
Step 2: Use the Correct Connection Method
Steam and Mac
Use the server address shown at the top of your server page, or as Server address in the Ports & network card on the Overview tab:
IP:PORT
Make sure you use the game port, not the RCON or REST API port.
Xbox, PC Game Pass and PlayStation 5
Open the Community Servers list and search for the configured server name.
These platforms should not normally use direct IP connection.
Step 3: Restart and Update
- Press Stop, then Start, at the top of your server page.
- Fully close Palworld.
- Check that the game has finished updating.
- Restart the game.
- Try connecting again.
The server and player must use compatible Palworld versions.
Step 4: Check Crossplay
For players using different platforms, confirm that crossplay is enabled.
The configuration should include:
CrossplayPlatforms=(Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac)
If crossplay is controlled through Startup settings on the Settings tab, change it there.
Follow our Palworld crossplay guide for complete instructions.
Step 5: Check the Server Password
If the server uses a password:
- Make sure the player is entering it exactly
- Check capital letters and symbols
- Confirm that the password has not changed
- Avoid leading or trailing spaces
Server-password values available in Startup settings should be changed there.
Troubleshooting
Nobody Can Connect
Check that:
- The server is fully started
- The correct IP and game port are being used
- Community-server mode is enabled for console players
- The console is not showing a startup error
- The server was restarted after changing settings
Contact GuavaHost support if the server is online but no players can connect.
Only One Player Cannot Connect
The affected player should:
- Restart Palworld
- Restart their computer or console
- Restart their router
- Disable any VPN temporarily
- Check for game updates
- Try another internet connection if available
If everyone else can join, the server is usually operating correctly.
The Problem Started After Uploading a World
Check that:
- The uploaded world finished extracting
- The folder structure is correct
Level.savis not empty- The console shows that the server finished loading
- The world came from a compatible Palworld version
See our Palworld world-upload guide.
Steam Can Connect but Game Pass or Console Cannot
The server may not be correctly listed as a community server, or crossplay may not include the player's platform.
Follow our community-list guide.
Opening a Support Ticket
Include:
- Your platform
- The exact error message
- The server IP and port
- Whether anyone else can connect
- When the problem started
- A screenshot of the server console
This information helps support identify the problem without repeating basic questions.
