RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Password: Set or Change It

Your Dragonwilds world password is the Server Password field in Startup settings. Change it, save, restart, and only people with it can join.

2 min read · Updated Oct 24, 2026 · By GuavaHost Team

To set or change the password on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server, edit Server Password in Startup settings on the Settings tab, click Save next to it, then restart the server. That one field is the world password, the thing players type to join. Every Dragonwilds server here starts with CHANGEME in it, so change it before you share your world name.

Set it

  1. Sign in at customer.guavahost.com, open My servers and click Manage on your Dragonwilds server.
  2. Go to the Settings tab and find Startup settings.
  3. Change Server Password and click Save next to it. This is the world password, the one players type to join.
  4. Press Restart at the top of the server page.

Players who search your world name on the Public tab will still find it, and will be asked for the password when they connect. Share it with your group and nobody else gets in.

Your server always has one

A new server starts with CHANGEME as its Server Password, so change it before you share the world name with anybody.

Jagex allows a dedicated server to run with no world password at all, but the panel requires a value in Server Password on our Dragonwilds servers, so yours always has one. If you want a server that anybody can join, pick something simple and post it next to your world name wherever your community finds you.

What it actually does

The panel writes Server Password into the game's config file, DedicatedServer.ini, as WorldPassword every time the server starts. Jagex's rule is that this setting overrides whatever password is stored inside the world file itself. That matters if you have uploaded a world from somewhere else: the setting from the panel wins, so you do not have to go digging through the save to work out what the old password was.

Because the panel writes it on every start, change it in Startup settings rather than in the file. An edit made only in the file is replaced on the next start.

World password and admin password are different

They do two different jobs and should not be the same string.

  • Server Password decides who can join at all.
  • Admin Password decides who can open Server Management once they are in.

Give the server password to your friends. Give the admin password only to people you want moderating. Both start as CHANGEME, so change both. Becoming admin on your Dragonwilds server covers the admin side.

Choosing one

Something short enough to type in a chat window and not guessable from your world name. The field takes up to 64 characters. Avoid reusing a password from anywhere else, since you will be pasting this one into Discord.

Changing it later

Change Server Password in Startup settings, save it and restart. The restart disconnects everyone, and they need the new password to get back in. That makes it the fastest way to shut out someone who should not be on your server, alongside a ban from the owner.
