There are three ways to join your GuavaHost Valheim server: type its IP and port directly in game, add it to your Steam favorites, or share the crossplay join code with friends on any platform.
Find your connect address
Open your server in the GuavaHost game panel. The IP address and port are shown at the top of the server view, and that is your connect address. Write it down, for example 203.0.113.10:2456. If you want to double check which port is which, open the Network tab. The main game port is the one players connect to, and the query port (the one Steam uses to list the server) is normally one higher.
Join by IP from inside the game
This is the fastest method and it always works, even when the server is not listed publicly.
- Launch Valheim and pick your character.
- On the Start Game screen, choose the Join Game tab.
- Click Join IP.
- Enter your address as IP:port, for example 203.0.113.10:2456, and confirm.
- Type the server password when prompted.
Add it to your Steam favorites
Adding the server to Steam makes it show up under Favorites in the in-game list, so you never retype the address.
- In the Steam client, open View, then Game Servers.
- Go to the Favorites tab and click Add A Server.
- Enter your IP followed by the query port (one higher than the game port), for example 203.0.113.10:2457, then click Add This Address to Favorites.
- Launch Valheim, open Join Game, and switch the filter to Favorites. Your server appears there.
The query port catches a lot of people out. If the game port is 2456, the port you add in Steam is 2457.
Join with a crossplay code
Crossplay lets players on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Game Pass all play together on the same server using a short join code instead of an IP.
- Open the Startup tab in the panel and turn on the crossplay option (this adds the -crossplay flag to the server).
- Restart the server and open the Console tab.
- When the world finishes loading, the log prints a line containing a join code, for example join code 123456.
- Share that six digit code. Friends choose Join with join code on their server list screen and type it in.
The join code can change when the server restarts, so grab a fresh one from the Console if an old code stops working.
If you cannot connect
- Give the server a moment. Watch the Console until the world has finished loading and the server reports it is ready. A new server is live within seconds, but loading a large world takes a little longer.
- Check the password. Valheim passwords must be at least five characters.
- Make sure you used the game port for Join IP and the query port for Steam favorites.
- Still nothing in the list? See our guide on a Valheim server not showing up.
