Admins, Kicks and Bans on Your 7 Days to Die Server
The Players tab lists who is online and does the work for you. Behind it are the game's own commands, which you can also type in the Console tab.

Open your server's Players tab. It lists everybody online and gives each of them a menu: make admin, whitelist, kick, ban. Everything there is a console command the panel sends for you, and you can type the same commands yourself in the Console tab.
The Players tab
- Sign in at customer.guavahost.com, open My servers and click Manage on your 7 Days to Die server.
- Click Players in the menu.
The list refreshes on its own and when somebody joins or leaves. Each person's menu holds:
- Make admin, at full admin, moderator or trusted level.
- Remove admin.
- Add to whitelist and Remove from whitelist.
- Message everyone, because the game has no way to message one person from the console.
- Kick, with an optional reason.
- Ban, for a day, a week, a month, a year or forever, with a reason.
- Lift the ban, while you can still see them in the list.
The player count beside your server's address comes from the same place, so you can see at a glance how busy the server is from anywhere in the panel.
The commands behind it
Type these in the Console tab. They are the game's own, so they also work over a remote console client.
lp
kick <player> "<reason>"
ban add <player> <number> <unit> "<reason>" "<name>"
ban remove <id>
ban list
admin add <player> <level> "<name>"
admin remove <player>
admin list
whitelist add <player> "<name>"
whitelist remove <player>
whitelist list
say "<message>"
saveworld
shutdown
A few details that catch people out:
lplists players.listplayersis the same command. It prints one line per person and ends withTotal of N in the game, which is the whole reply when the server is empty.- A ban needs a number and a unit, as two arguments.
ban add Steam_7656... 7 days "griefing". Leave the unit out and the game reads your reason as the unit and refuses the command. - There is no unban command. It is
ban remove, and unlike the others it needs the full player ID, not a name. - Permission level 0 is the most powerful, and a player with no entry has level 1000. That is backwards from most games.
- A player ID looks like
Steam_76561198000000000orEOS_and a long string. The panel always sends this rather than a name, because the short entity ID next to a player is handed to somebody else after they reconnect, and a ban written against it would land on a stranger.
Whitelist: read this before you use it
The game's whitelist is all or nothing, and the switch is implicit. As soon as one player is on the list, nobody who is not on it can join. There is no separate "whitelist on" setting to forget about.
So if you whitelist yourself to test it, you have just locked out your entire group. Add everybody in one sitting, or leave it alone.
Saved lists
Admins, bans and the whitelist are kept in a file on the server, not in the panel, so they survive restarts and are not lost if a player goes offline. To see all three, type admin list, ban list and whitelist list in the Console tab.
Stopping the server properly
Press Stop in the panel. It sends shutdown, which is the game's own clean exit and saves the world on its way out. You can also type saveworld first if you want to see World saved before anything else happens, which is a reassuring habit before a big change.
Never use Kill unless the server is genuinely stuck. It stops the process without saving.
Common questions
Why can I not message one player?
The game has no private message command. say is the only message command a server console has, and everybody online sees it. Anything that offers per player messages on a 7 Days to Die server is a mod, not the game.
Why does the panel show a long ID instead of a Steam name?
That ID is what every command in this game that outlives the session needs. The short number beside a player in the console is a slot number that gets reused, so a ban written against it would hit whoever reconnects into that slot next. The panel shows you names and sends the ID.
What permission level should my moderators have?
Level 0 is everything, including the ability to shut the server down. For somebody who should be able to kick and ban but not touch the server itself, use the moderator level in the menu and then restrict individual commands with cp add <command> <level> in the console if you want to be precise about it.
Can I ban somebody who is not online?
From the panel, no: it works from the list of who is here. In the Console tab, ban add accepts a full player ID, so if you have theirs from ban list or from your own notes you can ban them at any time.
